Delicious and Quick Chicken Karahi Recipe
Introduction:
Chicken Karahi, a flavorful South Asian dish, is known for its aromatic spices and rich taste. This quick and easy recipe allows you to enjoy this classic dish in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Ingredients:
1.5 pounds (700g) boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2-3 green chilies, slit lengthwise
2 teaspoons ginger paste
2 teaspoons garlic paste
2 teaspoons coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
4-5 tomatoes, chopped
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, for garnish
Fresh ginger, julienned, for garnish
Salt to taste
Preparation:
Begin by cutting the boneless chicken into bite-sized pieces.
Slice the onions thinly, chop the tomatoes, and slit the green chilies lengthwise.
Prepare ginger and garlic paste.
Cooking the Chicken:
Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pan or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn white and slightly browned. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
Create the Karahi:
In the same pan, add the thinly sliced onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions become golden brown.
Add Spices:
Stir in ginger paste and garlic paste. Sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw aroma disappears.
Spice It Up:
Add the coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the spices release their fragrance.
Tomato Time:
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and the oil begins to separate from the mixture. This should take about 7-10 minutes.
Return the Chicken:
Return the cooked chicken pieces to the pan. Mix them well with the tomato and spice mixture.
Final Touches:
Sprinkle garam masala powder over the chicken and mix it in.
Garnish and Serve:
Garnish your Chicken Karahi with fresh chopped coriander leaves and julienned ginger.
Serve this delicious dish hot with naan or roti.
